EUPHORION'S WORKOUT FOR THE BELMONT STAKES WITH SUNSET CRUSADE
Sunset Crusade was doing incredibly well. He'd just hit G2 following his wins in the Kentucky Derby and Summer Cup. Euphorion was doing good too. But compared with his same aged stable mate, he could be doing better. Particularly since he had the blood of four HOF Inductees running through his veins! The two colts looked stunning as they warmed up side by side, complimenting each other beautifully.
Bred for the Triple Crown, Euphorion had his last shot to win one of the races this weekend. Sarah was confident of his chances. He was very capable at twelve furlongs, and his two most recent wins, in the Diamond Stakes and Rising Sun Stakes, had been at twelve furlongs. Amazingly enough, it would be a race between only himself and Flashy Wings. The other colt had five wins more than Euphorion, and was certainly a great racehorse.
The cameras flashed, and they recorded. Some people called out well wishes from the rail, others congratulations, and still others looked on in silent awe. Marissa grinned, waving occasionally, still basking in the glory of Sunset Crusade's Derby win. Sarah was more focused, but ensured she still had a smile on her face, not wanting reporters to mistake her look of concentration for something else, and make up some stupid story.
Euphorion's canter contained a fair bit of bounce. He'd had a lot of slow work in recent weeks, so he was able to race the distances he had without becoming fatigued. Cruze was also bouncy, and 'kicky'. He'd rocketed out of his stall this morning, intent on attacking a nosy photographer, who'd been flashing his camera at the thoroughbred for at least an hour. Cruze was continuing to demonstrate his fierce desire to fight.
